TOBY’S DINNER THEATRE IS AUDITIONING PERFORMERS FOR

ROCK OF AGES

Auditions are being held on MONDAY JUNE 2ND starting at 4:30pm.
at Toby’s Dinner Theatre, 5900 Symphony Woods Rd, Columbia, MD 21044.

ROCK OF AGES – It’s the 1980’s in Hollywood and a “small town girl living in a lonely world” meets a “city boy, born and raised in South Detroit” on the Sunset Strip and they fall in love to the greatest hits of the era!
Looking for strong, appealing, energetic performers with a rock & roll sensibility, fun personality, strong singing voices and strong dance/movement ability.

SEEKING:

DREW: an appealing, good-guy rocker with great, easy comedic timing, a boyish charm, vulnerability and a very strong rock tenor voice. Drew works at the legendary Bourbon Room hoping and waiting for his dreams to come true. He finds an instant attraction to Sherrie, the beautiful new arrival from the Midwest, who encourages him to go after his dreams;

SHERRIE: a pretty, fresh faced, innocent Midwestern girl stepping right off the bus into a new world to pursue her dreams of stardom.  Strong comedic timing, strong rock belt, good dance/ strong movement ability/comfortable in skimpy clothing.

LONNY: the narrator of the piece. Charming, mischievous, welcoming, vibrant personality, a guy who would be fun to spend one drunken night with. Strong with a heart of gold. Very strong comedic timing/improv skills and strong rock vocals;

DENNIS DUPREE: Classic stoner type guy who runs the famous Bourbon Room club. Torn about whether he should sell the club to Hertz, a German businessman. Strong comedic timing. A laid-back, easy-going dude real dude. Bari-tenor rock vocals;

STACEE JAXX/FATHER: A sexy rock star. Decided to leave his successful hair/metal-rock band to try it solo. Self-important, confident intriguing in all the wrong ways, the ultimate bad boy; he is all about sex, drugs and rock-n-roll. Good body, strong comedic timing and strong rock tenor voice;

HERTZ KLINEMANN: an older character male.  Father to Franz. Uptight, cold, intimidating German businessman trying to buy up the Strip to develop it. The bad guy of the piece. Strong comedic timing and high baritone vocals;

FRANZ KLINEMANN: Hertz’s son, a young effervescent German male. Works for his father but not by choice. Pressured and intimidated by his father. Shy, gentle with a big heart. Strong vocals and comedic timing;

REGINA/CANDY: A fun, hippie type, earthy girl who fights against the attempted takeover of The Strip. Strong comedic timing, belt vocals. Candy is a stripper who works at The Venus Club.

JUSTICE/MOTHER: African American female, strong presence, an easy sensuality about her, once a performer, she now operates a gentlemans club where Sherrie winds up working. Takes on the maternal role for the girls that work for her. Strong, soulful vocals and belt needed;

MAYOR/JA’KEITH/ENSEMBLE: African American male, a strong character actor with good comedic timing to play numerous roles, bari/tenor and strong movement ability;

JOEY PRIMO/ENSEMBLE:  a young male with the rocker sensibility, rock tenor and strong movement ability, possible US for Drew/Stacee;

FEMALE ENSEMBLE: Three sexy servers at The Bourbon Room who take on small roles in the production: Waitress #1: a sexy strong friend to Sherrie, Connie: a reporter who falls for Stacee’s charms, Dream Sherrie: dancer, Young groupies, strippers, etc… Confident, sexy, aggressive dancers with great voices, comfortable in skimpy clothing.

Please bring a headshot/resume and your best 16- 32 bars, in the correct key, IN THE STYLE OF THE SHOW and be ready to dance if asked. Have a second vocal ready in case you are asked for more. All roles are open and paid, with the additional option to wait tables.

PERFORMANCE INFORMATION:

ROCK OF AGES runs 1/9/26 – 3/8/26
Toby’s Dinner Theatre performs an 8 show per week schedule
Tues. – Sat. evenings at 8pm, Sun. evening at 7pm and 12:30pm matinees on Wed. and Sun.

REHEARSAL INFORMATION:

Rehearsals are unpaid and begin NOVEMBER 15, 2025
Rehearsals are held each Saturdays from 10am – 3pm., each Monday 5pm – 10:30pm, Occasional Tuesdays from 6pm – 10:30pm. Some daytime rehearsals WILL occur.

PLEASE REVIEW ALL OF THE INFO LISTED ABOVE: You will need to list ALL potential conflicts for the rehearsal and performance schedule on the audition sheet. Toby’s is looking for people who can commit to the entire run and rehearsal process with minimal to no conflicts. Seeking talent local to the DMV area as Toby’s does not provide housing or transportation. NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE.
