OPEN AUDITIONS FOR TOBY’S DINNER THEATRE

Ain’t Misbehavin’ and The Little Mermaid.
Aint Misbahavin’ (Director: Monique Midgette; Choreographer Shalyce Hemby, Musical Director: Ross Scott Rawlings) Starts rehearsals early July. Run dates are Sept 14 – Nov 4
Disney’s The Little Mermaid (Director/Choreographer: Mark Minnick; Musical Direction: Ross Scott Rawlings) Starts rehearsals in August. Run dates are November 9 – January 13 2019.
*Both productions rehearse on Monday and Tuesday evenings and Saturdays from10 – 3. Performance schedule is 8 shows a week with 12:30 matinees on Wednesday and Sunday. Occasional Thursday or Saturday matinees may occur.
*Seeking talent for the specific roles listed below:
AIN’T MISBEHAVIN’: (Roles are named after the original cast members) Strong actors/vocalists who move/dance well. All should be strong storytellers.
Charlaine – Female, African American, a sweet Mezzo-Soprano with great personality, flair and strong movement/dance ability. Should be familiar with the following songs “Keeping out of Mischief” and “Handful of Keys” Vocal range G3 – G5
Ken – Male, African American, Baritone with a jovial, large personality and a smart sense of humor. Should be familiar with the following songs “ “Honeysuckle Rose” and “Feets to Big” Vocal range D3 – C6
Andre – Male, African American, Tenor with a smooth style, great charm and humor. A flirt and party man. Strong dancer/mover. Should be familiar with the following songs “Viper’s Drag” and “Tain’t Nobody’s Business” Vocal range G2 – E6
THE LITTLE MERMAID: Seeking strong actor/singers with good movement/dance ability.
Ariel – Female, any ethnicity, a mermaid and King Triton’s youngest daughter. She is obsessed with everything about the human world, and dreams of becoming a part of life above the water. Hardheaded, naive, and emotional, but also kind hearted. Be familiar with the song “Part of your World” Vocal range Ab3 to Gb5
Prince Eric – Male, any ethnicity, A handsome young Prince who has no interest in taking the crown. A gentleman with a buoyant, adventurous nature. After Ariel saves his life, he becomes obsessed with finding her and hearing her voice once more. Be familiar with the song “Her Voice” Vocal range B2 – G4
Sebastian – A crab and advisor to King Triton. A musical virtuoso who is constantly distraught from keeping after Ariel. Despite his paranoia, he can’t bring himself to stand in Ariel’s way. Be familiar with the songs “Under the Sea” and “Kiss the Girl” Vocal range Bb2- C5
Male Ensemble : Various male performers High Baritone/tenors who dance/move very well/ tap dance to portray ensemble sea creatures, chefs, seagulls and Ursula’s henchmen (Flotsam and Jetsam)
***INFO: Auditions will be held at Toby’s Dinner Theatre, 5900 Symphony Woods Rd, Columbia, MD on Tuesday May 8th.
First round of auditions will be held at 2pm – must sign in by 3pm.
(If auditioning for Ain’t Misbehavin’ – come to this call if possible. If not possible, the 6pm call is open as well. )
Second round of auditions will be held at 6pm – must sign in by 7pm.
Prepare your best 16 bars, bring headshot and resume stapled together and any potential rehearsal and performance conflicts. Everyone should be prepared for a movement combination and give a listen to the listed vocal selections in case you receive an immediate callback.
Should you not be able to attend you can submit a video to Minnickcasting@aol.com with a headshot and resume labeled with your name by May 6th. Submission should include the songs listed in this breakdown for each character and footage that shows your dance/movement ability. Uplaod the video to youtube, make it public or unlisted (NOT private) and email the link.
Toby’s Dinner Theatre is now staffing the following positions:
Full time and part time work available. Looking for cooks, bussers, dishwashers, salad and dessert prep. Applicants should have the ability to work well with others, follow directions, work calmly and safely in tight quarters and have a respectful attitude. Part time work is available for Hosts and Hostesses. Applicants should be detail oriented, assertive, have patience and be comfortable to welcome and seat large groups of people in an efficient and respectful manner. Duties include greeting and seating guests, making sure the guests tables are set up correctly, coffee and water service if needed and assist house managers with any customer needs that may arise.

Box Office Staff
Part time work is available in the Toby’s Box Office. Weekends, daytime and evening shifts are available. Applicant should be detailed oriented, have a good customer service attitude and patience. Duties include: answering phones, taking reservations, providing theatre information and directions, filing reservations, and checking in guests upon arrival with courtesy.
